Toni Watson joined the Legacy team this fall to lead Carmel High School’s Pre-Nursing Pathway Program, bringing real-world experience to the classroom. Her experience spans direct patient care, healthcare administration, and workforce development—giving students a firsthand look at how healthcare works both at the bedside and behind the scenes.
“Our goal is to show students that their education can translate into meaningful, life-changing careers,” Toni shared. “By the time they graduate, they’ll have a strong foundation in healthcare and the confidence to take their next steps.”
With a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Practical Nursing licensure, and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership, Toni blends clinical knowledge, academic expertise, and leadership insight to create an engaging, career-focused classroom—and her commitment to education and equity has earned her statewide recognition: Toni was named 2025 Dual Credit Teacher of the Year by Ivy Tech Indianapolis and selected for the 2024 Inclusion, Access, Equity & Diversity Mentorship Program through the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).
These honors reflect her dedication to helping every student reach their full potential—something she brings wholeheartedly to Carmel High School’s pre-nursing program.
A Head Start on Healthcare Careers
Through Legacy Medical Academy’s partnership with Ivy Tech Community College, Carmel High School students can now earn college credit while completing high school, at no cost to families. Courses such as Medical Terminology and Principles of Healthcare combine academic rigor with hands-on learning, allowing students to graduate with both knowledge and experience.
